Viral Experiment Highlights Compassion Disparities in Faith Communities
A Kentucky woman, Nikalie Monroe, sparked widespread attention on TikTok after her experiment revealed significant gaps in compassion among various churches when she sought help for a fictitious hungry baby. Calling 43 churches across multiple denominations, Monroe posed as a distressed mother unable to afford baby formula. While some churches directed her to community resources or required membership for assistance, others outright declined to help. Notably, a few smaller and diverse faith communities, including a mosque and an African American church, offered immediate support.
Monroe's initiative aimed to assess whether churches would respond to urgent needs, especially from those outside their congregations. The responses varied widely, with many larger megachurches failing to provide assistance. This prompted discussions about the role of faith communities in addressing social issues and the need for reform within these institutions. Monroe's findings have resonated with many, highlighting the importance of compassion and outreach in faith-based organizations.

We The Kings stole the show!
I knew of the other bands, but I went for Formula Drift. Although I was disappointed by Formula Drift. They had their music up so loud that you couldn't even hear Derek half of the time. They were good, just not what I was expecting, and they didn't interact with the crowd much. The other bands were awesome, especially We The Kings. WTK sounded perfect, and they were so funny. The story of how Danny broke his arm was hilarious, and I love those guys! They interacted a lot with us, and you could tell they really wanted to be there playing for us. We saw Derek from Formula Drift in the mall before the show, and he was trying to get away from all of the fans, which is understandable but made us kind of feel like he didn't appreciate his fans. While WTK made a speech and everything about how much they appreciated their fans. I'm not trying to trash Formula Drift because, hey, they're my favorite band, but they kind of let me down.
